Mei Shibata

New York City and Mougins · Chicago Art Fair 2026

Mei Shibata paints in acrylic, with studios in New York City and Mougins. In her paintings, familiar places obey impossible or surprising rules. She calls this body of work Paradoxical Places.

She holds degrees in physics, medical engineering and business from Harvard, and ran branding and advertising agencies in New York before painting full time. In 2025 she showed in London, Monaco, Barcelona and Madrid, and at Context Miami.
